Zac Efron’s Australian Dream Home Development
Zac Efron is reportedly enjoying a quiet life in Australia as he works on creating his ideal home.
The actor has been living in Byron Bay while developing a substantial 128 hectares of rainforest in Tweed Valley, located about an hour’s drive from Byron. This property was acquired at a lower cost during the pandemic in 2020.
Recent reports indicate that Efron has been making strides on the development, enlisting Australian environmental designer Joost Bakker to help design an eco-friendly residence dubbed “Future Cave.”
Bakker confirmed the news last month, revealing that the plans received the green light, but it was previously unknown that Efron was maintaining a discreet presence in Australia throughout the project’s development.
Bakker shared his excitement on Instagram, stating, “Excited to start Zach’s House!”
Insiders suggest Efron might contemplate a permanent move to Australia once he officially announces it. His Los Angeles home is currently on the market.
The envisioned property aims to be self-sufficient and encompass zero waste, with a design that nurtures a diverse ecosystem, supporting both insects and various species.
Bakker expressed Efron’s affinity for the Australian vibe, saying, “He just loves the Australian mentality and attitude and wants to spend time in nature.”
In a follow-up interview with Domain, Bakker added, “We’re using this building to help bring a lot of endangered insects and species back into orbit.” The focus is on creating habitats rather than depleting them.
Additionally, Bakker mentioned ongoing experiments with hemp blocks as an alternative to concrete, emphasizing their restorative properties. “Hemp is perhaps the best plant on earth for restoration,” he remarked.
The plan consists of interconnected living spaces linked by walkways, offering around 9,000 square feet of area, complete with a gym and a lush, plant-covered rooftop.
This development comes just weeks after news of Efron collaborating with A24 on a TV project that reimagines the story behind the 1987 film Angel Heart.
The show, produced alongside HBO, centers on a down-and-out New York City paparazzi who’s hired to track down a missing woman. The plot thickens as he discovers the involvement of powerful elites, and possibly a supernatural element, in what seems to be a cover-up of her disappearance.
