Tragic Incident at Facebook Marketplace Purchase
In Indiana last week, an 18-year-old man, John Harrison Ford, has been accused of fatally shooting a 40-year-old mother, Jean Gragg, while she was trying to protect her son during a Facebook Marketplace watch sale gone awry.
Following the tragic death of Gragg, who succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, Ford has been charged with murder, attempted murder, felonious assault, and armed robbery, as reported by local news sources. In addition, he faces a felony firearm enhancement.
The incident took place on June 10 in South Bend, specifically on MacArthur Avenue. Authorities stated that Ford attempted to steal the watch from Gragg’s son while looking at it, claiming he needed it. Gragg intervened to defend her son, pushing Ford off the property.
According to investigators, surveillance footage captured the moment Ford fired several shots as he fled back toward the house, tragically hitting Gragg in the head. During an interrogation, Ford confessed to having shot Gragg.
As of Tuesday, he remains in St. Joseph County Jail, with no bail amount specified.
