By the end of the day, a fresh champion will emerge from the French Open women’s draw.
In a tournament filled with surprising upsets and some early withdrawals, No. 8 Mira Andreeva faces off against unranked qualifier Maja Chwalinska in the women’s final on June 6th. Both players will be vying for their first Grand Slam title.
At just 19, Andreeva is now the youngest woman to reach a Grand Slam final since Coco Gauff, who did so at 18 in 2022. Prior to this achievement, her best finish in a Grand Slam was at the quarterfinals during the 2025 Wimbledon.
Chwalinska, on the other hand, has a shot at becoming only the second qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam title, following Emma Raducanu’s success at the 2021 US Open. This year marks her first time qualifying for the French Open, and she secured her spot in the final by defeating Diana Schneider, who recently pulled off an upset against world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
