32-year-old NYC woman fortunate to survive after being targeted by a stranger who attempted to shoot her from behind, missing by ‘a centimeter’: police

A 32-year-old woman from the Bronx had a narrow escape after a stranger shot at her during daylight hours.

She was making her way home around 9 AM on Friday when a hooded figure approached her on University Heights Street, pointing a gun without uttering a word, according to authorities.

The assailant then fired the weapon. Luckily, the woman managed to turn her head just in time, causing the bullet to miss her entirely.

Although she wasn’t shot, she fell and struck her head on the ground, leading to some injuries, as reported by the police.

This incident is being treated as an attempted murder, occurring on West 183rd Street near Davidson Avenue.

The victim reportedly did not notice the gunman before the attack.

On Wednesday, police shared a photo of the suspect, who was seen wearing a hooded jacket while walking along the sidewalk.

He is described as having a dark complexion, standing around 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds, according to police.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

Additionally, tips can be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website.
