School Employee Accused of Abusing 13-Year-Old Student

A school employee in Colorado faces allegations of sexually abusing a 13-year-old student. Authorities suspect that this individual is currently evading law enforcement.

According to the Greeley Police Department’s announcement, officers were called on February 12 to investigate a report involving a Greeley-Evans School District 6 employee and a 13-year-old student.

The employee, identified as 34-year-old Brenda Meza, is said to have engaged in a pattern of sexual abuse over several months. The police detailed the case, noting that Meza faces serious charges, including twelve felonies, such as sexual assault of a child and online enticement. Additionally, she is charged with tampering with evidence and contributing to a minor’s delinquency.

However, Meza appears to be on the run, as police mentioned that attempts to locate her have been unsuccessful. During a traffic stop on March 11, her husband indicated that she might be heading toward the Mexican border.

While employed at Franklin Middle School, Meza held several roles, including school secretary and cross country coach. Following the allegations, she was placed on administrative leave on February 12 and subsequently fired on February 25.

Principal Suzette Laster communicated her concerns in a letter to parents, emphasizing the importance of student safety and offering support for those affected by the ongoing situation.

As investigations continued, police revealed that Meza had allegedly had inappropriate contact with the student after they met in a Walmart parking lot in January, where they consumed alcohol and marijuana before engaging in sexual activity. Reports also indicated that Meza sent explicit photos to the boy.

An anonymous tip regarding the alleged abuse prompted the school’s administration to confront Meza, who later confessed to her husband about inappropriate interactions with students. Following this confession, her husband reported the matter to authorities.

As of now, Greeley police confirmed that Meza remains at large, with no updates on her whereabouts. They are still collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses as the investigation progresses.

Anyone with information about this case or Meza’s location is urged to contact the Greeley Police Department.
