2 out of 6 children killed in DC shooting
A 9-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy were among the six people shot to death outside a Washington, D.C., apartment complex Wednesday night. Police said two gunmen got out of the car and opened fire.

Metropolitan Police Department Commissioner Pamela Smith said at a news conference Wednesday night that the gunmen got out of a car and opened fire from across the street, striking a total of six people.
Police said they believe two gunmen were involved.
Police officers who arrived found one man dead. A woman, a 9-year-old boy and two other men also suffered gunshot wounds in the area.

Smith added that a 12-year-old boy was shot and taken to a local hospital. Smith said he believes he was the victim of a shooting.
All of the surviving victims had non-life-threatening injuries.
“This is another example, and I’ve been in this space of violence before, and it is never acceptable in our community,” Smith said. “Tonight, we extend our condolences to the families and friends affected by this senseless gun violence.”

Police said they are searching for a light blue Toyota sedan that may be connected to the shooting. It has a UNK tag, no front tag, is dark in color, and has a black rim.
