Martha McMullan loves playing bingo with friends at the Hermitage Roanoke and saves the quarters each time she wins, averaging $2 a week, WDBJ reported. Reported on friday.
When McMullan learned that students at Fairview Elementary School needed school supplies, she saved up her prize money for a year to do something about it.
Her friends pitched in and the savings totaled $500. McMullan printed out a list of supplies for the school's fourth-graders and bought 24 copies of every item. She also bought 96 notebooks for the children to use.
She said,
Now parents have a long list of things they want for their kids: glue sticks, scissors, crayons, pencils, and earphones. Now I know that parents use a lot of technology, like tablets and computers, and with them they also use earphones. But I didn't even know what earphones were.
