Trump Questions Epstein Case Handling

On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump raised questions regarding the handling of the sex trafficking case linked to the late investor Jeffrey Epstein. During a media interaction, he mentioned that Attorney General Pam Bondy has produced a “trustworthy” file on the matter. He remarked, “She managed it well, and it’s up to her to decide what she feels is appropriate to disclose.”

Trump alleged the involvement of former high-profile figures like James Comey, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden in this case but provided no substantial evidence for these claims.

This came after the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI concluded their reviews of the Epstein case without revealing any new details, which stirred frustration among certain groups of Trump’s supporters.

In light of Bondy’s earlier comments when she took office, where she spoke of having a “truckload” of information related to the incident, the recent lack of disclosed findings led to significant backlash. There’s been a noticeable tension between Trump, his supporters, and the DOJ since the matter unfolded.

Later in the day, Trump reiterated to reporters that no credible information had been made public regarding the case.

Bondy faced a barrage of questions during a fentanyl event, insisting that she preferred to focus on her current responsibilities rather than off-topic inquiries. At one point, she mentioned standing by the DOJ and FBI’s statements, saying, “Our notes speak for themselves.”

When pressed about internal matters related to the FBI, she declined to comment, particularly regarding the status of a key deputy director. There are reports suggesting potential unrest within the FBI following the memo’s revelations.

Reflecting on Epstein, Trump noted, “He’s been gone for a while now. It’s puzzling to see the continued interest.” He further described the case files as “pretty boring,” suggesting that the case no longer holds significant relevance.
