Dana Bash refrains from addressing Trump's negative comments about CNN on air

CNN Anchor Avoids Trump’s Critique on Air

CNN’s Dana Bash chose not to read a segment of President Donald Trump’s Truth Social post during her broadcast on Tuesday, which included a somewhat parochial jab at her network.

In his post, Trump stated, “It’s very important that all Republicans adhere to my rebates. Refund Corporation for Buildings, especially public broadcasting (PBS and NPR). This is worse than CNN & MSDNC put together. The Republicans who vote to allow this monster to continue broadcasting have no support or approval for me.”

Bash read the discussion about “Inside Politics” but skipped the line attacking CNN, saying, “I’m not going to read it,” effectively omitting the reference.

Trump’s Criticism of Media

Trump has publicly criticized CNN, labeling it a “gutless loser” following a military strike in Iran. He recently threatened to cut federal funding from both NPR and PBS, even signing an executive order aimed at reducing taxpayer money for these organizations.

In previous statements, Trump has characterized CNN as unreliable, claiming he will not watch it anymore. There’s also been talk about potential legal action against CNN regarding the reporting of an app that allows tracking of ICE agents and claims related to US military actions in Iran, suggesting they had falsely represented the effectiveness of military strikes on Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Bash has stood her ground against Trump in the past, challenging some of his statements on her network. For instance, when Trump remarked on a perceived decline in border numbers, he accused CNN of not reporting positive statistics. Bash directly countered his assertion, stating, “I’ve heard President Trump say in his oval office that CNN hates our country, so I just want to say for the record. CNN doesn’t hate our country, not to mention.” She emphasized her long tenure at CNN, hinting at her experience with the rhetoric surrounding such claims.
