Vance Critiques Media on Epstein Case Transparency

During a speech in Canton, Ohio, Vice President JD Vance took aim at the media for their lack of questioning regarding the previous administration’s transparency about the Jeffrey Epstein case. This came as he was promoting President Donald Trump’s economic policies and responded to claims that Republicans were somehow shielding pedophiles in the context of Trump’s handling of the Epstein situation.

Vance defended Trump, asserting that he was the most transparent president on the matter. He criticized the mainstream media by pointing out that, under Biden’s Justice Department, there was little interest in the files or the case itself.

He stated, “For four years under Joe Biden’s Justice Department, the media didn’t care about Epstein’s files or the Epstein case.”

Trump’s Transparency Questioned

Some supporters of Trump and his critics have alleged that the DOJ and the FBI were involved in a cover-up concerning details of Epstein’s sexual trafficking. Recently, it was suggested that no significant new information had emerged regarding the case, which baffled many, particularly within the MAGA-supporting faction. They had long believed Epstein was tied to a broader child trafficking network that implicated high-profile figures worldwide.

In a separate moment, Vance addressed a question posed by Associated Press reporter Julie Kerr Smith, who asked about protestors accusing the GOP of protecting pedophiles and the government’s decision to release Epstein’s client list. Vance reiterated Trump’s commitment to transparency, saying, “The President is very clear, and we have no protection. He wants us to release all credible information related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.”

Trump himself had pressed for the maximum release of relevant documents related to the case, pushing his Attorney General to make all pertinent transcripts available.

Concerns Over Justice Department’s Past Actions

Vance continued to express frustration about how the administrations prior to Trump approached Epstein, implying that there had been a consistent lack of curiosity about the case. He remarked, “For 20 years, these past administrations have made it easier for Epstein. They didn’t investigate the case fully, showing no real interest.”

As Vance wrapped up his statements, he directed a pointed message toward reporters and critics, suggesting that if they wanted to critique transparency, they should consider the previous administrations that had allegedly concealed details about Epstein for two decades.
