Trump’s net approval rating reaches the lowest point of his second term

Trump’s net approval rating hits new low of second term

President Trump’s job approval rating has dipped to its lowest point during his second term, according to recent Economist/YouGov polls.

His net approval is currently 15 points below water, with 55% of those surveyed disapproving of his performance and 40% approving.

In the past few weeks, disapproval has remained steady at 55%, while approval slightly decreased to 41%. A couple of weeks prior, 53% disapproved and 42% approved.

At the start of his second term, Trump had a 49% approval rating compared to 43% disapproval.

The most significant shifts noted in the latest polls are among Republicans, with a 12-point drop in support for the president, influenced by the ongoing scrutiny surrounding financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Currently, Trump’s net approval rating among Republicans stands at 74 points, with 86% approving and 12% disapproving.

This marks a decrease from two weeks ago when his net approval was at 86%, with 92% of Republicans approving and only 6% disapproving.

This recent poll reveals that Trump’s current support among Republicans is the lowest it has been all year. Since he took office in January, his approval has generally remained steady, but for the first time, it has fallen below the 90% mark—a decline from last week when 87% showed approval and 11% disapproval.

In contrast, among Democrats, Trump’s net approval stands at minus 85 points, while among independents, it’s minus 33 points.

Though overall, Americans seem to have mixed feelings about Trump, his handling of immigration and the economy shows slightly better metrics, with net approvals of minus 6 points and minus 11 points, respectively.

However, the president faces significant challenges on other critical issues, showing a 25-point deficit regarding inflation and prices, a 20-point deficit on climate change and environmental concerns, and a 19-point deficit on abortion.

Additionally, Trump’s handling of foreign trade and education aligns with a minus 15 point rating overall.

This survey, conducted between July 25 and 28, included 1,777 adults, with a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
