Kamala Harris shares her next move in her political return: 'Dedicated public servant'

Kamala Harris Announces Political Plans

In light of ongoing speculation, former Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen to clarify her future political aspirations.

Following a disappointing presidential run where President Donald Trump defeated her in all key swing states and the overall popular vote, Harris often found herself mentioned as a prospective candidate for governor of California. However, after what she described as “deep reflection,” she shared on Tuesday that she will not be entering the race for governor.

“At this point, my leadership and public service are not in the realm of elected office,” Harris stated.

In her statement on X, Harris expressed, “Over the last six months, I’ve taken the time to reflect on our country’s current state, fighting for the American people, and considering how best to promote the values and ideals I hold dear.”

Harris referred to herself as a “dedicated civil servant,” highlighting her roles as Vice President and California Attorney General, as well as her time as a U.S. Senator.

“Recently, I’ve seriously contemplated seeking the support of Californians for the governorship,” she mentioned. “I love this state, its people, and its promise. But after careful thought, I’ve decided against running for governor in this upcoming election.”

Harris continued to voice her “deep admiration and respect” for those devoted to public service while also indicating her belief that the government and institutions have “let the American people down during this crisis.”

“We need to look towards the future and seek change through new strategies and innovative thinking,” she articulated. “While we uphold the same principles, we cannot be confined to the same methods. My leadership and public service are not tied to a specific office right now.”

“I’m eager to reconnect with the American people, to support Democratic candidates nationwide who are bravely advocating for change and sharing their visions for the future,” she added. “True power belongs to the people, and we must harness that power to advocate for freedom, opportunity, equity, and dignity. I intend to stay in that fight.”
