New video reveals racial slur shouted during Cincinnati assault incident

New Footage Emerges from Cincinnati Brawl

Recent footage has surfaced showing a violent confrontation in Cincinnati, Ohio, from last weekend. In the video, racial slurs can be heard amidst escalating violence, though it’s unclear who specifically was shouting them or who gave instructions during the chaos.

Brandon Fox, a lawyer representing Jermaine Matthews, one of the defendants, stated that the individuals involved were not the ones creating the chaos. He emphasized that separate fights erupted due to the use of racial slurs, which added to the overall tension. According to Fox, Matthews only became involved after being slapped by a “tall white man.”

Matthews is facing charges of aggravated rioting and assault, with his initial bond set at $100,000. However, after returning to court on Thursday, he now faces additional felony assault charges, resulting in a total bond of $270,000.

The atmosphere around the fight hasn’t calmed, even with attempts to stop it. For instance, one bystander shouted at the assailant, highlighting that the victim was a 62-year-old man. In a separate incident, a woman named Holly was unintentionally injured.

This past week, the city has faced a wave of criticism regarding how it has managed the violence from the brawl. Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval, currently vacationing in Canada, responded to the situation, assuring the public that violent crime has no place in the city and that authorities are determined to pursue accountability.

In addition to Matthews, several others have been arrested in connection with the incident, including Meriweather, Dequila Vernon, and Dominique Kittle. Meriweather faces multiple assault charges with a bond total of $500,000, while Vernon is dealing with similar charges and a bond set at $200,000. Matthews contends that he didn’t know Meriweather, though investigators assert the two worked together during the fight.

Kittle, charged with aggravated rioting and misdemeanor assault, had his bond set at $150,000. His defense attorney noted that Kittle struggles with paranoid schizophrenia, adding another layer to the case.
