“Gutfeld!”: Her trash can theft didn’t go as planned

A former diversity, equity, and inclusion executive at JPMorgan got fired after being featured in a viral TikTok video where he was seen dumping trash on a street in New York City and then stealing a trash can. Gutfeld and the panel discussed the qualifications of executives, particularly focusing on how DEI status influences companies and public areas. The New York City Department of Sanitation humorously welcomed the can back after it was returned following a $175 fine.

It’s a cloudy morning here in northwest Ohio, yet today feels sunny in my mind because I won’t be doing my usual screencap until next Friday. Not that I really need a break from writing “America’s Best Daily Column”—I mean who doesn’t love taking a moment to breathe and think of new stories?

But there’s definitely some work lined up today. Meanwhile, Europe’s World Cup influencers are busy expressing thanks to the Blues for keeping things safe at events around the country. It makes you wonder why we haven’t seen any major issues at these gatherings, doesn’t it?

The World Cup festivities continue, and the Purple Hairs are focusing on the Reflecting Pool. In the meantime, social media personalities Leah Rey and Elsa Solar are singing praises for our nation and the first responders.

These two should stay! Marblehead, Ohio, could be a cozy summer getaway, while Miami—well, anywhere really—can be your winter haven.

Texas Sheriff Rescues RV Full of Needed Swedish World Cup Fans, Purchases Burroughs Bronco & Meat

Trade offer: Wake Sweden, Elsa’s home, can take in 100 of their worst Wakes, and we’ll take Elsa. If those on the left in Sweden, where the birthrate is lower than in the U.S., want more woke folks to bolster their numbers, then let’s make this happen. We’ll even send over the entire woke village from Vermont. Your call.

Sure, if you want that politician from New York, who roots for Senegal instead of the U.S., send her over. Give her a contract and get her out of here ASAP. You’ll be pleased.

Thursday Mailbag:

– Matt from Oklahoma had this to say about my upcoming golf trip: Enjoy your trip, Joe! We visited in September and had a blast. We stayed in the Highlands (Boyne) and played at Quarry/Reserve, Reserve/Links, and Arthur Hills. Everything was fantastic. I’m glad I broke 100!

Kinsey: My target, as I mentioned before, is to score in the 80s. I actually did it last year at Forest Dunes on the Loop, so it’s not impossible. I suppose, given my body is feeling its age, playing Friday afternoon makes sense, but I have a feeling The Legend will challenge me. Saturday morning at Cedar River feels promising; I shot a 93 there last fall. My strategy? Just focus, aim for bogeys, and hopefully snag a few pars.

– Western New York Red chimes in: I’ve been to Elmore many times (my wife is from nearby Greytown), and I’ve played Sugar Creek Golf Course a few times. Between Elmore, Genoa, and Oak Harbor, there’s that fantastic small-town vibe you mentioned. Definitely a special part of the world.

Kinsey: In my hometown in Southwest Ohio, we refer to certain areas in Kentucky and Tennessee as “God’s Country.” But I’ll let Red have his view.

– Craig from New Mexico writes: As a fellow Ohioan now in New Mexico, I hope your Northern Michigan trip is amazing. I hate to admit it, but the golf there is quite good.

Kinsey: Craig seems like an Ohio State fan. Once you cross the Zilwaukee Bridge, it’s a whole different ball game. That bridge marks the divide between the Michigan fans and the Ohio crew.

– Michael C. from Utah checks in: I’m envious of your Michigan golf trip. Northern Michigan in summer is incredible. Have you played Arcadia Bluffs? I did the Bluffs course; it was definitely worth it.

Kinsey: As I mentioned to Michael, Arcadia is on my radar. I wouldn’t pay to play at Pebble Beach, but Michigan’s prices are reasonable. I could do a round by Lake Michigan and stay at a motel along the way. Arcadia is happening soon.

Addressing the WNBA poster controversy

Some might say you don’t dislike the WNBA and its management enough. With Caitlin Clark boosting TV ratings, there’s talk of them downplaying her financial impact on the league. It’s a bizarre poster situation, showing just how out of touch some of these folks are. They could generate significantly more revenue if they actually promoted her as the league’s face. But, alas, that’s a conversation for another time.

Perhaps they’re too worried about how it might be perceived if a straight white woman held such prominence, which is ridiculous, right?

Southwest Airlines and its pricing antics

– Kevin from Frederick says: Joe, I get it—it’s late. You may want to skip this, but you need to see what private equity firms are doing online.

I was considering a trip to Bear Lake this July. It’s supposed to be beautiful. I found a flight from Southwest to Salt Lake City. Initially, it showed one price, but when I tried to book, it mysteriously jumped. I went through this multiple times, and it was frustrating. They make you select from additional options with higher prices too.

It used to be one of America’s best companies. Now, private equity is swallowing everything up. They want you booking via third parties so they can wash their hands of any complications. When something goes wrong, they shrug it off.

Final thoughts from TNML members this morning

As June wraps up, remember how significant next week can be. Think about the memories you want to create for future generations. That July 2nd lawn mowing? It’s your American 250 lawn mowing. Mark your calendars.
