Agents from the Texas Department of Public Safety, along with the National Guard and Border Patrol, are actively apprehending migrants who have crossed the borders illegally. Recently, they arrested three Chinese citizens who fled near the Texas Mission after crossing.
DPS Lt. Col. Chris Olivares shared a video on social media highlighting the ongoing efforts of troopers, security personnel, and border patrol agents who are locating immigrants being smuggled into Texas, even as some evade arrest at the border. Law enforcement continues to seize drugs smuggled into the state.
In a report from July 31, Olivares showed Border Patrol agents tracking immigrants in Duval County, Texas. They pursued an illegal alien who tried to escape using thick brush as cover. The Texas DPS K-9 team arrested two illegal aliens, turning them over to Border Patrol agents.
Earlier on Thursday, Olivares mentioned the arrest of three Chinese individuals near the Mission after they crossed without encountering any border patrol agents.
The troopers also thwarted a human smuggling attempt last week, stopping a Florida driver in Dimmit County, Texas. They discovered two Mexican nationals hidden in the rear cargo area of the vehicle.
On July 3, Olivares reported the arrest of 10 illegal aliens near the Mission, including four from Uzbekistan.
In June, Border Patrol agents apprehended 3,995 immigrants and transboundary migrants in five Texas-based sectors, a significant drop from 30,766 in June 2024, according to reports from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This marks a decline of over 87% compared to the previous year. Arrests also decreased from 5,491 in May.
Concerns at the Texas sector accounted for about 66% of all migrants apprehended along the Mexico-southwest border in June.
In July, nearly 4,600 immigrants were arrested across all nine border patrol units along the southwest border, which sets another low record for the Trump administration, as reported by Breitbart Texas.
