ICE’s Stance on Media Criticism

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is dedicated to revealing what it sees as biases from left-leaning media outlets against federal agency activities, according to acting director Todd Lyons in a recent interview.

During the discussion, host Mike Slater commended the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE for their proactive public relations efforts, which he believes effectively address inaccurate narratives presented by some media.

“It’s unprecedented,” Slater remarked. “You really put them in their place.”

“Our web team is exceptional,” Lyons added, praising the leadership of Tricia McLaughlin, who heads the department. “They’re truly impressive.”

Lyons emphasized that they are taking strong action to counter what he describes as a left-leaning media narrative that misconstrues the work of ICE agents. He said, “The media often fails to acknowledge the good work we do in apprehending bad actors and suspected terrorists on a daily basis.”

He pointed out that the media attempts to paint ICE personnel in a negative light, accusing them of being “wrong” in their efforts, and attempting to evoke sympathy by framing the agency unfavorably.

“As you mentioned, we quickly address these stories. Our communications and social media teams are fantastic,” he noted. “And for those active on social media, they can see the daily realities of what our agents are involved in.”

Lyons added, “This is what their voting supports. We strive to ensure the public understands exactly what ICE is doing each day.”
