Two teenagers taken into custody for the violent assault of a DOGE worker in Washington DC

Authorities reported the arrest of two teenagers related to a violent attack on a former government worker that allegedly occurred during an attempted carjacking in the nation’s capital over the weekend.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl from Hyattsville, Maryland, are facing charges of unarmed carjacking. Their identities weren’t released, as they are both minors.

The investigation is still active, with several potential suspects still being sought.

Edward Coristine, also known as “Big Balls,” was assaulted by a group of teens near Logan Circle around 3 a.m. on Sunday. Authorities reported that the young individuals targeted a woman he was with, identified as someone important to him.

In what seems to be a desperate attempt to protect her, Coristine shoved the woman into a vehicle for her safety and tried to confront the group. The police stated that multiple teenagers attacked him until nearby officers intervened, prompting the assailants to flee on foot.

Coristine, who has been a prominent figure in the Doge community, shared images of his injuries on a social platform on Tuesday, showing he was left bloodied from the ordeal.

The violent encounter prompted former President Donald Trump to suggest that federal control may be needed in Washington, D.C., particularly in light of ongoing youth violence.

“The latest victims have been brutally attacked by local thugs,” Trump stated. “Maybe this young man, and others, could have been spared the horror of violent crime if action had been taken sooner.”

Meanwhile, Elon Musk, the former head of Doge, expressed his shock at similar events, sharing that a group of around 12 young men attempted to assault a woman in a car just days earlier. Musk recounted that members of the Doge team intervened, resulting in severe injuries, but ultimately saved her.

Trump emphasized that criminals seem to operate without fear of law enforcement, stating, “Nothing happens to them.” He asserted that Washington, D.C., needs to be a safe and appealing place for all.

“If the local government fails to act quickly, we may have no choice but to take direct control of the city’s federal operations,” he remarked in a recent statement.
