Threat Against Trump Leads to Indictment
A 22-year-old man from Pennsylvania, Jacob Buckley, has been indicted for making threats against then-president Donald Trump before he took office, the Justice Department announced on Wednesday.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of Pennsylvania, Buckley made his threats on January 16 via a TikTok account under the username “jacob_buckley.” He posted statements like “I’m going to kill Trump,” and “We’re literally in four days and I’m going to kill Trump.”
From Port Matilda, Buckley is accused of threatening Donald J. Trump during the presidential election, following an investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The potential penalty for such a conviction could be up to five years in prison, along with additional supervised release, fines, and other sanctions.
This incident comes just weeks after another case where a man from Rhode Island was charged with threatening to kill Trump and other officials from his administration.
In the Rhode Island case, 37-year-old Carl Montague was charged for making threats against the president, interstate threats, and more. He allegedly posted a threatening message on June 27 regarding Attorney General Pam Bondy and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.
Interestingly, the FBI later revealed that Montague did not actually own or have access to any weapon, stating that he had no real intention or capability to follow through with his threats.
