Runaway Car Causes Multiple Crashes at Washington Restaurant
Surveillance footage recently unveiled a bizarre incident at a Washington state university where a car ran wild, colliding with the same storefront multiple times before its driver fled the scene. This took place at a restaurant named Pho and Terriyaki early in the morning on July 30th.
Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies arrived around 6 a.m. after reports of a vehicle crashing into the restaurant. Surprisingly, by the time they got there, the maroon sedan had been abandoned in the parking lot. Investigations revealed that the driver had parked the car near Autozone the previous evening at about 5:45 p.m.
According to the deputies, the driver had informed a store employee that he would return to tow the vehicle later. Fast forward to around 3:45 a.m., and the footage captured a white Honda Pilot attempting to back up and tow the maroon sedan. The attempts to pull the car away lasted for about an hour and a half, but the tow straps kept snapping, which must have been pretty frustrating, I think.
Things escalated when the straps broke for the second time, sending the sedan rolling toward the restaurant. The driver, seemingly in a panic, tried to stop it but to no avail. The struggle continued as he approached the parking lot exit, but ultimately, the strap failed again, directing the car right back to the storefront.
During the driver’s final attempt, he, along with a female passenger, gave it one last try, maneuvering the vehicle toward the exit yet again, grazing the retaining wall and curb in the process. Eventually, they abandoned the car and left the scene.
The incident has left the restaurant severely damaged, and deputies are investigating it as a hit and run. It’s unclear if any arrests or charges will happen, but the situation has certainly caught the attention of many.
