Trump Takes Action to Address Crime in D.C.

During a press conference on Monday, President Donald Trump criticized the liberal media and outlined plans to gain control over law enforcement, including deploying the National Guard in Washington, D.C.

“I get it, many of you lean liberal, but you need to acknowledge what’s happening,” Trump stated. “People want to feel safe going out. You should be able to leave your home to buy a newspaper without fearing for your safety, but that’s just not the case right now.”

He highlighted rising crime statistics, mentioning, “The murder rates in Washington exceed those in cities like Bogotá and Mexico City. This is alarming.”

Trump Activates National Guard to Combat Crime

Trump revealed plans to manage the local police force directly and stated that about 800 National Guard troops will be dispatched to the capital.

“In the last five years, car thefts have skyrocketed—doubling—while carjackings have tripled,” he noted. “Murders this year are the highest they’ve been in a long time. They might say it goes back 25 years, but that seems irrelevant now. It can’t get any worse.”

He further expressed his frustration, saying, “Our capital is overwhelmed by violent gangs, ruthless criminals, and chaotic youth mobs. We can’t let this continue. This is unacceptable.”

Trump Aims to Make D.C. Safer and More Attractive

This press conference came after the reported assault of Edward Coristine, a former government employee, by two teenagers linked to carjacking charges.

In other news, a tragic incident involved Eric Tarpinian, a 21-year-old student who was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting while working as an intern for Rep. Ron Estes. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to the hospital.
