Dean Cain mocks John Oliver for his criticism of ICE recruitment

Dean Cain’s Response to John Oliver’s ICE Remarks

Former “Superman” actor Dean Cain recently commented on John Oliver’s remarks during his show, suggesting that things could get complicated for Oliver if Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) involved him over his monologue. As Oliver wrapped up his segment, he addressed the news that ICE and Cain would be removing age restrictions and swearing in Cain as an honorary officer.

Oliver shared some classic Hollywood wisdom, hinting that while ICE might bring people in, the situation of featuring a 59-year-old actor in that capacity seemed a bit peculiar. Cain later reflected on this during his morning show on X, pointing out that Oliver had, perhaps, borrowed a joke about masks from the internet and had also reacted humorously when Trump announced his presidential run.

In the segment, Oliver advised viewers on how to handle potential interactions with ICE agents, suggesting phrases like, “Can I leave freely?” and “I want to talk to a lawyer.” He even joked about the possibility of someone saying, “Did you used to be Superman? I thought you were dead,” if they encountered Cain.

Cain’s Swearing-In as Reserve Officer

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security disclosed that Cain is scheduled to be sworn in as an honorary officer next month, though it wasn’t clear what his specific role would entail. In a conversation with Fox News Digital, Cain mentioned his involvement with ICE is part of his support for the agency’s executives who feel misrepresented in their work.

He remarked that legal citizens shouldn’t have concerns but underscored that those in the country illegally are in violation of the law. During a heated discussion with political commentator Tim Miller, Cain defended his decision to join ICE, suggesting that it’s absurd to think of roles such as jumping out of a van to detain individuals, describing it as contrary to the principles of a free society.

Cain clarified that he isn’t claiming to be an expert in law enforcement, albeit he has qualifications as a deputy sheriff and served as a reserve officer for several years. He added that training is provided when one joins ICE, emphasizing his awareness of the current issues surrounding law enforcement and border control.
