Philadelphia DA Discusses Rising Crime Rates

During a segment on CNN’s “Sources” that aired on Tuesday, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner addressed the increase in various crime rates within the city.

Host Kaitlan Collins raised the issue, referencing some statistics about crime in Philadelphia. She pointed out that, while the homicide rate decreased by 20% from its peak in 2022, thefts have surged by 24%, alongside a rise in crimes involving guns and stolen vehicles. She asked Krasner what he would say to Philadelphia residents concerned about these changes.

Krasner responded, “First of all, it’s important to look at the whole picture. Out of 18 crime categories, 15 are actually down. The narrative pushed by Trump regarding crime isn’t accurate and seems more about him trying to deflect from his own legal troubles. We can’t let that distract us from what’s truly important for our community.”
