Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Hints at Future Possibilities
Joe Perry, the guitarist for Aerosmith, recently offered a glimmer of hope regarding the band’s future while addressing Steven Tyler’s vocal health issues.
During an interview published by WBUR on August 12, Perry suggested that Aerosmith might consider reuniting after Tyler’s appearance at a recent show featuring Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. “There’s no doubt that the Aerosmith show remains,” he said.
Perry met with Tyler in July to discuss potential plans for the band performing together again.
In 2024, Aerosmith had to cancel a 40-date farewell tour due to Tyler’s health challenges. Despite this setback, Tyler still managed to perform songs like “Train Rollin,” “Walk This Way,” and Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.” Fans around the globe seem hopeful this may signify a comeback for Tyler.
Perry mentioned that there are additional projects in the works for their fans. “We’ve had a talk about making a documentary, and that could be part of that,” he remarked.
He went on to express his thoughts regarding Tyler’s current stance on the band’s future. “I’ve spent a lot of time with Stephen, but he can’t tour because he doesn’t want to,” Perry noted. This, he admitted, is challenging. “I don’t want to go out and book another 40-city tour,” he continued. “It’s a long way to the top, and staying there will take it out of you, especially on an Aerosmith tour.”
Perry is holding onto the possibility that a more manageable run in Las Vegas might be an easier alternative than a full-blown tour. “I will never say never, but I wouldn’t bet on it—pun intended,” he said. “You really need to want to be there. We’re all at that point. How do you want to live?”
