Netanyahu Calls Palestinian State Concept “Suicidal”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently described the notion of a Palestinian state as “suicidal acts.” His remarks follow amid discussions about the dangers associated with two-state solutions for Israel and Palestine.

“Before World War II, the West tried to appease Hitler,” Netanyahu remarked. “Today, the West suggests giving Israel’s territory to the Palestinians, claiming they will reconcile. But really, they will not. History has shown us that they refuse opportunities because their actual goal is not nation-building for themselves but the destruction of our nation, of the Jewish state. That’s their primary aim, and we’re not going to risk the lives of our citizens.”

These comments coincided with the announcement of a significant housing project for Jewish residents in the West Bank, despite international backlash.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich supported Netanyahu’s stance, stating, “Anyone who seeks to recognize a Palestinian state receives responses from us—not in words, but through the establishment of homes and communities in our territory.”

In an interview with CBN News, Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz criticized the Palestinian leadership’s approach, suggesting, “They should earn that recognition through negotiations. It’s about give and take.” He added, “But that’s not happening. Countries like France and the UK say, ‘We’re not giving anything away until you make a return on hostages.’”

Dershowitz noted that the conflict in Gaza has escalated, conveying that the message to the international community is one of enabling terrorism. “It seems to work,” he said. “Hamas chose violence, and that’s what the current situation demonstrates.”

He also shared a personal experience of antisemitism, claiming that he was denied service by a vendor in Martha’s Vineyard while wearing a T-shirt that read, “a proud Zionist.” He underscored the significance of support from Christian communities, stating, “The backing we receive from evangelical and all types of Christians is just as vital as our military capabilities—it’s a form of protection against oppression and hatred.”
