Dean Cain Responds to Backlash Over ICE Involvement

Actor Dean Cain is grappling with criticism following his announcement to join Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). On Thursday’s episode of The Brian Kilmeade Show, he remarked, “I’m not concerned about Hollywood attacking me. They can say what they want.”

At 59, Cain, famous for his role as Superman, is set to be sworn in as an agent next week, leveraging his current position as a deputy sheriff in Virginia. This decision, however, has drawn ire from some in the entertainment world, including actor John Leguizamo, who took to Instagram to express his disapproval:

“What kind of loser volunteers will become ICE officers? What a fool. Dean Cain, I have—yes, your pronouns,” Leguizamo stated.

Cain expressed disappointment over Leguizamo’s remarks but remains steadfast in his commitment to the role. “That’s a bit disappointing because I like John Leguizamo,” he said. Nonetheless, he emphasized that many Hispanics back ICE’s objectives of enforcing border security and supporting legal immigration processes.

“Our ICE agents, and the loudest advocates for immigration enforcement, are often legal immigrants themselves. They really pay attention, and they don’t appreciate those who jump ahead in line,” he explained.

The actor’s decision aligns with the Department of Homeland Security’s recent move to lift the age restriction for recruiting 10,000 new agents, with Secretary Christie Noem noting a significant influx of applications. Cain’s choice responds partly to a recent escalation in anti-ICE sentiments and violence. Reports indicate assaults on ICE personnel surged by 830% from January to July of this year compared to the same timeframe in 2024.

“Why are we attacking ICE agents?” he pondered. “This is insane. Why are we slandering our law enforcement agencies—federal agencies that aim to protect Americans?”

Despite the backlash, Cain remains undeterred. He remarked that criticism aims to discourage individuals from standing up for their beliefs. “Everyone attacks you so that you don’t act,” he noted. “And that’s how you prevent yourself from taking a stand.”
