Putin Welcomes Trump to Moscow

Putin Invites Trump to Moscow for Discussions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended an invitation to President Donald Trump to visit Moscow, aiming to discuss the future relationship between their countries and the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

This invitation came after a significant summit held in Alaska, where both leaders addressed the press separately—Putin speaking in Russian and Trump in English. The exact details of their conversation have not been disclosed, but indications suggest they may have reached some kind of agreement.

In his closing remarks, Trump expressed optimism about their past meetings: “We’ve had good, productive meetings over the years. We hope we have that in the future. This deal could prevent thousands of deaths each week.” He thanked Putin, noting: “I’ll see you soon and probably again. Thank you very much, Vladimir.”

Putin followed up with a casual “Next time in Moscow,” clearly showing interest in the proposed visit.

After the extensive three-hour discussion, both leaders appeared in good spirits. It’s not often that Trump avoids questions, but he did this time, mentioning he would contact NATO leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky immediately afterward.

Despite earlier hopes for a ceasefire, there was no formal mention of it during this exchange. Trump did suggest that future meetings between Putin and Zelensky might be possible, although it’s doubtful that Zelensky would participate in a gathering in Moscow. Nonetheless, Trump’s potential trip to the Russian capital could signify a notable shift in U.S. diplomatic actions.
