‘Children as valuable members’: Gay couple’s viral IVF video shows the extent of Obergefell’s impact

Videos featuring a gay couple discussing their selection of two embryos for in vitro fertilization have gained attention. The partners have shared this process with two deputies.

“We’re really happy that we chose to purchase as many frozen embryos as we could, as this gives us these 10 embryos for two babies,” he said.

He mentioned they made selections together regarding the embryos to transfer to their two deputies and will keep them informed during the transfer process, noting, “We’ll update them on whether we’re pregnant.”

However, he added that they won’t disclose the genders of the babies until they are officially pregnant, similar to how other expecting parents approach the news.

Steve Deace, a host at BlazeTV, expressed his discomfort with the situation. He commented on the video’s wide circulation, saying, “This is a gay man who details how he and his partner are essentially trying to manufacture human life in the open market, and this video went viral.”

Deace also referenced Katy Faust, who is associated with a global child rights group, criticizing the Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges. This case established a fundamental right for same-sex couples to marry.

He elaborated on Faust’s viewpoint, indicating that the case’s implications have shifted how society views parenting and childbirth. “Historically, for thousands of years, the needs of children came before those of adults. Now, it seems like children are viewed more as assets to acquire,” he remarked.
