Vance Discusses Federal Highway Funding on Fox News
During a segment on Fox News Channel’s “Ingraham Angle,” Vice President JD Vance addressed the topic of potentially withdrawing federal highway funds from states like California. He stated that the administration would adhere to existing laws.
Host Laura Ingraham remarked on the significance of federal highway funds as a means for the federal government to influence state policies. She asked if Vance would consider advising the Department of Transportation to reinstate these funds in states facing compliance issues.
Vance acknowledged that federal highway funding serves as leverage. While he noted he wasn’t privy to any forthcoming announcements from the administration, he emphasized the potential for using this leverage with California and others to ensure adherence to legal standards. He expressed his concern about prioritizing foreign interests over those of American citizens.
In previous statements, Vance criticized California for granting licenses to undocumented immigrants. He highlighted the importance of understanding basic English, arguing that individuals should be able to comprehend the language used on road signs.
