Post Malone Embraces Fatherhood and Country Roots in Utah
Post Malone, known for hits like “Sunflower,” has truly embraced his roots after rising to fame in the hip-hop scene. Recently, he settled down in Utah, expressing that it’s an ideal spot for raising his three-year-old daughter.
Beneath the stage persona, Austin Richard Post shares that becoming a father has reshaped his life and perspective. He cherishes the everyday moments spent with his little girl, trying to soak in every single experience. There’s something profound, I think, about the daily lessons that come with parenthood.
Reflecting on fatherhood, he told GQ, “Kids are little sh, and they’re beautiful at the same time. And… well, I’m a dad, so I take it day by day. I believe that’s really important. We learn every day.” It’s a mix of chaos and joy, no doubt.
“I take it all one day at a time. I think that’s how important it is. We learn every day.”
He expressed fondness for his new home, mentioning that after two years, his house is finally coming together. There’s a long corridor perfect for his daughter to ride her bike, along with a toy horse she adores. “It’s honestly the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’m really looking forward to it. It’s amazing—being a dad.” It’s that genuine excitement that stands out, don’t you think?
His daughter seems to have a taste for music too, as Malone noted that she enjoys listening to George Strait. He gets a kick out of her dance moves, and it sounds like she’s got quite the personality, keeping him on his toes.
Interestingly, he mentioned how, during a tour, she would watch the performances and cheer for Jerry Roll, showing an impressive knack for remembering names. It’s these little moments that seem to fill his life with laughter.
During a casual chat about the cold weather in Utah, he shared a humorous tidbit about how he sometimes wears a quilt robe while stepping outside. “It’s the comfiest thing, I swear,” he mentioned with a laugh. I can only imagine that contrast—shivering outside while being wrapped up in something cozy.
Malone, who made waves in the hip-hop scene with his 2016 debut “Stony,” is now pivoting to country with his latest album, fully dedicated to the genre. It’s fascinating, really, how artists evolve and rediscover elements of their roots.
Born in New York, he moved to Texas at a young age when his father took a role with the Dallas Cowboys. He recorded much of his earlier music in L.A., but now finds himself immersed in Nashville’s vibe for this new project. “In L.A., there’s always something demanding your attention, which can be overstimulating. Nashville has a different focus,” he noted, hinting at a more supportive atmosphere.
Post Malone’s journey, from hip-hop to country, as well as his personal growth as a father, highlights a relatable transition many experience. It’s all about finding balance and joy in the little things. Isn’t that what we all strive for in our lives?
