Democratic Voters Ignore 'Unimportant' DNC for Far-Left 'No Kings', Says Party Activist

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is encountering its first major challenge of the year, according to a report from CNN on Monday.

Chairman Ken Martin is facing growing criticism from various party members as the DNC struggles with fundraising and overall growth this year. As highlighted by CNN, the DNC had just $15 million in available funds by the end of June, which is noticeably less than what the Republican National Committee (RNC) is able to report.

Sources, who chose to remain anonymous, shared with CNN that the DNC is also covering some of former President Joe Biden’s legal fees related to the ongoing investigation by the House Oversight Committee. Biden’s legal costs have reportedly accumulated to hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to one of these sources.

Furthermore, the DNC has been dealing with debt following the unsuccessful 2024 presidential campaign of former Vice President Kamala Harris. Democratic activist Gavito, who is also the president of a donor network called How to Win Tory, expressed concerns to CNN, stating the DNC feels almost “irrelevant.”

“The party isn’t at the forefront of the movement,” Gavito remarked, pointing to recent protests, including the far-left anti-Trump demonstration in June.

He added, “There’s a lot of enthusiasm about what comes next—how to win, how to govern. That’s going to really energize them, but it hasn’t quite taken hold within the party yet.”

In conversation with CNN, Martin admitted he anticipated a challenging role as DNC chair, likening it to a tough job with little gratitude. He expressed, “Everyone’s upset with you. If you win, no one gives you credit; if you lose, it’s all on you.”

“I’ve learned not to worry about displeasing people because, ultimately, my priority is winning the election,” Martin asserted. He also touched on the need to act independently of certain expectations from Washington.

Nonetheless, there are Democrats who believe Martin is performing well in his position. He expressed that he felt a sense of honor in helping cover Biden’s legal expenses.

According to Martin, “There’s not much we can do to honor his service to our country and the party.” Additionally, Stephanie Cutter, who advised Harris during her campaign, is now helping with the DNC’s response to the Oversight Board investigation.

“Of course, I’d prefer not to be in this situation, but supporting our candidates is a core part of our responsibilities, and we’ll keep doing that,” Martin mentioned.

Allison Minnally, a 26-year-old DNC member from Florida, remarked that the committee appears to be drifting too far from what average Americans care about, hinting that they focus too much on procedural matters rather than real issues.

Some Democrats have expressed concern following a recent New York Times report stating that the party lost approximately 2.1 million registered voters between the 2020 and 2024 elections, while Republicans have gained 2.4 million in the same timeframe.

An anonymous former DNC officer remarked that Martin has become “somewhat irrelevant” since his election as chair in February, as he hasn’t lived up to previous promises. They implied that the strategy to play “small ball” isn’t suitable for the current era.

A recent report from a liberal think tank noted that Democrats should steer clear of 45 particular words and phrases, claiming that “normal people don’t think about these things.” Some working-class voters who previously supported Democrats expressed a feeling that the party is no longer fighting for them.

In a memo from February, Martin emphasized that Democrats need to do better in connecting with working Americans, asserting that the party has always been a workers’ party.

The DNC did not provide any comments when contacted for this report.
