66 percent of voters back Trump's attempts to resolve the Ukraine conflict: Poll

In light of the recent Trump High Stakes Conference, featuring former President Trump and Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky, a new poll indicates that two-thirds of voters are in favor of Trump’s attempts to end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict as reported by New Polling.

A Harvard Cap/Harris poll released earlier this week revealed that 66% of participants support Trump’s efforts aimed at resolving a war that has persisted for over three years.

During a bilateral summit in Alaska, Trump claimed that the war might not have initiated under his leadership, a sentiment that, interestingly, President Putin seemed to concur with. Following that, Trump welcomed Zelensky to the White House the previous week.

Interestingly, 57% of those surveyed felt the meeting carried “a lot of credibility,” regardless of whether Trump was successful in halting the conflict.

However, it’s noteworthy that six out of ten respondents expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of the Putin Conference in progressing toward peace.

Moreover, 58% believed that Trump was perhaps too lenient with Putin during discussions, highlighting that many voters regard the relationship with Ukraine as outweighing ties with Russia.

Around 60% of voters doubt that Trump will ultimately resolve the Ukrainian issue.

Trump has even stated that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his involvement in fostering peace in various conflicts, including recent ones in India and Pakistan in May, and Cambodia and Thailand last month. However, he has faced challenges in advancing peace in the Russian-Ukraine conflict.

Notably, 61% of poll participants think he shouldn’t receive the Nobel Prize for his efforts.

Interestingly, about two-thirds of the voters believe that Putin appears “stuck in the game,” while a similar number asserts that Zelensky genuinely wishes to end the war.

In essence, voters seem to think that while Putin may outmaneuver the president, there’s still some recognition of Trump’s efforts deserving of support—though perhaps not enough for a Nobel nod. It’s a tricky situation, especially considering the immense loss of life due to the conflict.

The survey was conducted from August 20th to 21st, with 2,025 registered voters participating, and comes with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.
