Chaos in Cincinnati: A Mob Attack and Controversial Charges

A white man recently became a victim of a brutal mob attack in Cincinnati after slapping a black man. Following the incident, he now faces disorderly conduct charges, classified as a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

This man, Alex Tchervinski, was arrested on Tuesday, according to local reports.

“He wasn’t just viciously attacked and robbed; now he’s being charged while trying to defend himself and his friends,” remarked Tchervinski’s lawyer, Douglas Blannon.

Tchervinski, 45, didn’t attend his court hearing in Hamilton County City Court, but his attorney entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf. Blannon alleges that his client was acting in self-defense.

A mobile phone video surfaced showing the lead-up to the attack. The footage reveals Tchervinski and several black men facing off. While there’s a brief exchange of physical jostling, it seems that others were attempting to break up the tension. Ultimately, Tchervinski lightly slapped the black man, prompting the mob attack that followed.

Another video shows Tchervinski on the ground, as a mob repeatedly kicks, punches, and stomps him.

According to reports, Tchervinski is among six victims of this mob assault. Authorities have not clarified if the slap directly resulted in his misdemeanor charges.

“I really don’t understand the basis for the disorderly conduct charge,” Blannon expressed. “The prosecutors haven’t explained it to me, and I’m very curious about why they thought these charges were necessary.” He went on to stress that Tchervinski should not be facing charges, pointing out that he was struck over 28 times during the violent encounter.

The black community, including local legislator Cecil Thomas, commented that the disorderly conduct charge doesn’t reflect the severity of the attack on Tchervinski. “Putting your hands on someone is an assault. A disorderly act feels like an insult,” Thomas stated.

Interestingly, there seems to be a shared concern about transparency from city officials regarding the situation.

Blannon mentioned that the city’s attorney is attempting to seal the citation related to Tchervinski’s case, which is raising eyebrows. “I don’t understand why authorities would want to conceal this while also incurring costs,” Blannon said, emphasizing the need for public awareness of the situation.

Surprisingly, not every video relevant to the incident has been made public yet, which adds to the tension and confusion surrounding the case.

Before Tchervinski’s charges, seven other individuals, all black, were charged in relation to the mob attack. Six of these individuals are facing multiple counts, reflecting serious allegations that could potentially lead to lengthy prison sentences.

The initial attacker, who retaliated against Tchervinski, is reportedly under investigation, with authorities seeking to identify additional suspects.

The Hamilton County Chief Prosecutor acknowledged that racial slurs were heard during the mob’s actions, describing them as inappropriate but not the focal point of the assault.

Community leaders have expressed concern that the underlying racial motivations of the incident are being overlooked. Pastor Damon Lynch mentioned that had the slap not occurred, Tchervinski might not have prompted the violence that ensued. “We’re not excusing violence, but context matters,” he said.

The ongoing dialogue around the case highlights varied perspectives on accountability, race, and community response. Some argue for justice while others advocate for more understanding and healing moving forward.

As the situation unfolds, the community is left grappling with the implications of what transpired and the charges now facing Tchervinski.
