Response to Tragic Shooting in Minneapolis
A man featured in a troubling video linked to the major suspect of a recent mass shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis has condemned the shooter’s “hatred and pointless acts.”
Brandon Herrera, a Second Amendment activist and Republican congressional candidate from Texas, expressed his disbelief about being associated with the shooter in a statement sent via email. He said, “I was terrified by this clearly motivated attack on innocent children, and I’m just exhausted hearing my name come out of this demon’s mouth.” Herrera then mentioned that, despite meeting thousands at a shooting event in Las Vegas, he didn’t recall ever meeting the shooter.
Meanwhile, a retired NYPD officer, who claims to have detailed knowledge about the shooter, insists on her ability to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies in their investigation. Herrera emphasized his willingness to assist families affected by this senseless violence by coordinating with law enforcement.
According to authorities, the individual suspected of fatally shooting two children during Wednesday’s Catholic Mass has been identified under two names: Robin Westman and Robert Westman. The shooter is reported to have also injured 17 others before apparently taking his own life.
A video, which was linked to someone identifying as Robin Westman, was subsequently removed from YouTube. It showcased handwritten notes, weapons marked with messages, and commentary from those filming it; the authenticity of the video remains unverified by officials.
In the video, someone refers to Herrera, saying, “Yeah, I met Brandon Herrera at the shot show last year. We had a brief conversation.” The Shot Show is an annual event focused on photography, hunting, and outdoor gear.
Additionally, Herrera—known on social media as “Theakguy”—addressed the tragedy, stating that he would refrain from naming the shooter, whom he described as a “brave coward.” He shared his thoughts for the families impacted by this horrific event, reflecting on the deep sorrow felt in such circumstances.
