Netanyahu Discusses Rising Anti-Semitism in Interview
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the growing wave of anti-Semitism extends beyond anti-Israel sentiments to also encompass anti-American and anti-Trump attitudes. He referred to this phenomenon as an “awakening,” noting that it includes some conservative individuals who previously supported Israel but now oppose its actions in conflicts, particularly the recent tensions with Iran.
This matter has sparked discussions around anti-Semitism, a topic that has gained attention across the political spectrum, especially within leftist circles in recent years. However, it seems to be reemerging among right-wing factions as well.
Breitbart News: Anti-Semitism is increasing globally, and while it has typically been associated with the far left, we are now seeing it rise on the right too. It’s not just from traditional sources; even some prominent conservative voices in the U.S. appear to be leaning in that direction. What could be causing this? Could it be influenced by foreign factors or perhaps have religious roots? How do you view its origins and what are potential solutions?
Netanyahu: Over the past two decades, various foreign influences have played a role. There are non-governmental organizations, particularly from Europe and Qatar, investing heavily in American universities, which sometimes lead to slander against Israel and Jews—and by extension, the U.S. Opening Al Jazeera in Arabic has led to this troubling trend accumulating in academia.
What’s significant is that Jews have faced slander for centuries, often being blamed for various atrocities — dating back to medieval accusations. These unfounded claims have historically preceded violence and discrimination against us, culminating in the horrors of the Holocaust. The patterns of anti-Semitism may evolve, but they remain alarmingly persistent, sometimes surfacing explosively, as we see now. What’s different is that, unlike in the past, Israel is now capable of defending itself effectively, as demonstrated during recent conflicts.
Let me add, when I mention this “waking up,” I’m essentially referring to some who label themselves as MAGA supporters—they’re not truly representing that movement if they align with Iran. Iran has made attempts on President Trump’s life and poses a significant danger, having caused countless American casualties and even killed U.S. Marines. They openly declare their hostility toward America, making it clear that they’re a threat to U.S. interests. Meanwhile, Israel stands as America’s strongest ally.
If you support Iran, I believe you cannot genuinely claim to be a MAGA supporter. President Trump certainly understands this and has shown steadfast support for Israel. I appreciate his candid approach to these issues.
Since taking office, Trump has taken significant steps against anti-Semitism, particularly targeting its presence on university campuses and combating related hate in both media and politics.
