Tragic Shooting at Minneapolis Church Claims Young Lives

On Thursday, the parents of the second student who died in a devastating shooting at a Catholic Church in Minneapolis shared their heartbreak with the world. Harper Moysky, just 10 years old, was killed when 23-year-old Robin Westman opened fire during a back-to-school welcome mass at Announcement Church and Catholic School.

In a poignant statement, Harper’s family expressed their grief, saying, “Our hearts are broken not only as parents but also as a family. Harper’s sister idolizes her and now faces an unimaginable loss. We are shattered, and words can’t truly capture our pain.”

Westman’s actions were shocking. He reportedly fired 116 rounds, chillingly expressing a desire “to see the pain.” Such actions leave many questions unsaid. What could lead someone to such violence?

As Harper’s family reflects on their loss, they’re also calling for change. “While our immediate focus is on healing, we know it’s critical to address the gun violence and mental health crises that threaten our communities. No family should suffer like this,” they urged.

They continue to express gratitude for the overwhelming support they’ve received, voicing hope that Harper’s spirit will inspire others to advocate for a safer and kinder world.

In this particular tragedy, 8-year-old Harper and her classmate Fletcher Merkel were the only fatalities. Meanwhile, eight others were injured, and one child remains critically ill in a local hospital.
