Rosie O’Donnell made misleading statements regarding the shooter from a Minneapolis Catholic school, suggesting they were linked to “Republicans, Magazines, White Supremacists.” In reality, the shooter had notably written “kill Donald Trump” in one of their gun magazines.
In a TikTok video, O’Donnell asserted, “What do you know? [The shooter] was a Republican and a Maga supporter. A white supremacist.”
However, this claim contradicts the available evidence.
The shooter, identified as 29-year-old Robin Westman, left behind a manifesto and social media posts expressing disdain for Trump, even scribbling messages on one of their rifle magazines.
Westman’s manifesto also contained remarks regarding struggles with gender identity.
Law enforcement and fact-checkers, along with national media outlets, found no links between Westman and Republican or white supremacist groups. Yet, O’Donnell has remained steadfast in her claims.
At one point, she called the NRA a “terrorist organization” and questioned if America had had enough of people like Trump, musing about his state of being—physically, emotionally, and mentally—implying that he seeks a form of peace.
