Tragic Plane Collision in Colorado

A mid-air collision involving two planes in Colorado resulted in three fatalities and injuries to three others.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reported that emergency responders arrived at the scene around 10:45 AM on Sunday after receiving alerts about the incident. They found that two aircraft had collided and fallen into a field close to the airport.

“We express our deep sadness to the victims’ family and friends in this tragic event,” the sheriff’s office stated on Facebook. “This is an active investigation, and the names of those involved have not been disclosed yet.”

Early reports suggest that a small Cessna was on its final approach to land when it collided with another plane. Witnesses mentioned seeing the two aircraft hit each other before descending to the ground.

Following the impact, both planes caught fire, sending smoke billowing into the sky as responders rushed to extinguish the flames.

Each plane had two occupants. One person in the Cessna sustained minor injuries and was released at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

One occupant of the second plane, identified as a Flugzeugbau EA300, was taken to a local hospital, while another individual was pronounced dead at the site by the Morgan County Coroner’s Office.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the collision happened as both planes were preparing to land. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will oversee the investigation and provide updates as necessary.

This incident has understandably raised many questions about safety procedures and regulations for aircraft in the area.
