Florida linebacker Ethan Pritchard is currently in serious but stable condition following a shooting incident on Sunday night, as announced by the university on Monday.
Pritchard, a 6-foot-2, 224-pound freshman, was reportedly visiting family in Havana, Florida when the incident occurred. The statement from the Pritchard family expresses their gratitude for the outpouring of support and the care provided by first responders and healthcare workers, while also requesting privacy during this difficult time.
Pritchard is being treated in intensive care at Tallahassee Regional Hospital. Interestingly, he missed participating in his team’s recent victory against Alabama, where the Seminoles won 31-17. Following the incident, the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the situation.
Before joining the Seminoles, Pritchard played at Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida, where he earned a four-star recruit ranking. He was listed as the 437th player nationally by 247Sports Composite and 507th in ON3 rankings. ESPN recognized him as the 64th best player in Florida and ranked him 39th among linebackers.
During his senior year, he contributed significantly to Seminole High School’s success, leading the team to the regional finals for a second consecutive year while accumulating impressive stats, including 39 tackles and seven tackles for loss over nine games. His high school career initially began in the safety position before he transitioned to linebacker in his sophomore year.
Pritchard committed to play for Florida in October 2023, choosing the Seminoles over other programs like Miami and UCF.
