“You need to adjust the position of the core problem,” was one notable takeaway from the conversation. China expressed its commitment to maintaining a high level of close interaction with Russia. So far, the two countries have signed over 20 cooperation agreements.

US-China Trade War Overview

In a broader context, the trade war has emerged as a significant issue between the US and China. It essentially involves economic clashes fueled by extreme protectionist measures, including tariffs that create barriers to trade. Such actions can lead to rising import costs and impact living expenses.

The tensions began back in early 2018 when then-President Donald Trump imposed trade barriers on China, citing unfair business practices and concerns over intellectual property theft. China retaliated by enacting tariffs on various US exports like cars and soybeans. Although a trade agreement was signed in January 2020, aiming for reform and improved relations, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has added complexity to the situation. President Joe Biden, succeeding Trump, also implemented tariffs and further measures.

Now, with Trump once again running for the presidency, tensions are heightening. He has pledged, if re-elected, to apply tariffs as high as 60% against China starting January 20, 2025. This scenario suggests that the US-China trade war may resume with significant implications for global economic dynamics, affecting investment patterns and the overall supply chain.
