Trump’s Advisors Eye New York Mayoral Candidate for Administration Role

The White House has not commented on a recent report suggesting that President Donald Trump’s team has engaged with New York Mayor Eric Adams regarding a potential position for mayoral candidate Zoran Mamdani within the Trump administration. The idea, according to sources, is aimed at undermining Mamdani’s chances in the upcoming election.

Discussions appear to have taken place among Trump’s advisors and associates of Adams about this opportunity for Mamdani as they withdrew from the race. However, details about the position being discussed or whether Adams would entertain such an offer remain unclear.

The White House has yet to respond to inquiries from news outlets.

Sanders Backs Mamdani Against Cuomo in Mayoral Bid

Mamdani, a Ugandan-born Muslim and self-identified democratic socialist, secured the Democratic primary for New York City Mayor in June. In contrast, Cuomo, a centrist Democrat, lost to Mamdani in the primaries and is now campaigning as an independent.

According to Adams’ campaign, the mayor has not engaged in any discussions with Trump on this topic. Todd Shapiro, a spokesperson for the campaign, stated, “Mayor Adams has made it clear he won’t address every rumor that surfaces. He stays focused, keeping his attention on New Yorkers.”

Criticism of Socialist Candidate Grows

Shapiro emphasized that the mayor has not met or talked with Trump about the election: “Adams is fully devoted to winning this election, especially with millions of New Yorkers about to cast their votes. His track record is evident: crime rates are lower, and the city is making consistent progress.”

Trump has historically criticized Mamdani, warning voters against supporting him, especially those from Queens. “You shouldn’t vote for him because there are communists running,” Trump commented during a cabinet meeting. He stated, “He’s a disaster; he has a Democratic nomination.”

Trump added, “While I’m not involved, I can say this: we’ve never been a socialist nation before. I think that speaks volumes.”

Campaigning Amid Global Tensions

The political landscape in New York is heating up, with Mamdani addressing supporters at a campaign event recently. His candidacy is drawing attention not just locally but internationally, particularly as conflicts in the Middle East influence conversations on the campaign trail.
