Czech Police Catch Mysterious Speedster

A man who had been racing through Czech highways in a Ferrari-like car for almost six years has finally been apprehended by the police. Known as the “Phantom Ferrari Driver,” he was spotted and followed to a location in Bulk village, about 37 miles from Prague. There, authorities arrested a 51-year-old man who had been behind the wheel.

This distinctive car, often described as a Ferrari Formula 1-style vehicle, evaded law enforcement numerous times since 2019. Recently, footage emerged showing the vehicle on the D4 highway and stopping at a gas station, as reported by the BBC.

Interestingly, the video also captured a driver who claimed to be a police officer, suggesting he was trespassing on his property. His son later mentioned to Czech media that many police vehicles and helicopters came to their home.

The arrested individual, whose name has not been disclosed yet, ultimately agreed to go to the police station for questioning, just ahead of what is likely his upcoming legal challenges.

Despite being asked for comments, he remained tight-lipped about the entire episode. As stated by the police, all matters will be directed towards administrative proceedings.

The saga began in 2019 when images of this rough driver circulated online. However, whenever police spotted him, he would refuse to drive on the highway, often disguising his identity with a helmet.

It remains uncertain whether the individual apprehended is the same person they were after back in 2019. Authorities indicated that he could face fines amounting to thousands of crowns, as well as a driving ban.

Though often referred to as a Ferrari, the car in question is actually a Darara GP2/08, a race car developed in Italy and designed for Formula One’s feeder series, according to the BBC.
