ICE detains undocumented immigrant with 49 previous criminal charges during operation

ICE Operation Targets Criminal Immigrants

In a recent operation aimed at apprehending serious offenders residing illegally in the U.S., ICE officials disclosed that one suspect had an extensive criminal history. This operation has reportedly led to the arrest of tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants, coinciding with Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem’s leadership, which began in January.

The individual in question, Miguel Barrera Corona, originally from Mexico, was arrested in California over the weekend. It turns out he has 49 prior arrests linked to various criminal activities.

“This weekend, ICE apprehended individuals involved in drug trafficking, human trafficking, and sexual offenses. Notably, one of these illegal immigrants had previously been arrested 49 times,” said DHS Deputy Chief Tricia McLaughlin.

Barrera Corona’s criminal charges range from robbery and vehicle theft to more severe offenses such as assault with a deadly weapon, DUI, concealed weapons, and vandalism. It’s a concerning list, to say the least.

Amid the operations, other offenders were also detained, including convicted sex offenders and drug dealers. For instance, Carlos Guzman Santiago, another undocumented immigrant from Mexico, faces charges related to a second sexual crime.

Furthermore, Juan Carlos Zimenez from the Dominican Republic was arrested for sexual assault involving relatives. Similarly, Carlos Cipriano Moreno Pineda of Honduras was accused of domestic abuse, while Glenda Morina Salt from El Salvador faced charges related to child abuse and drug offenses.

Along with these individuals, several others, including Beninho Carillo Hernandez and Mauricio Barrios Satay, were also among those taken into custody.

“ICE remains committed to enforcing U.S. immigration laws, ensuring that criminally illegal aliens are identified and removed from communities,” the DHS noted in a statement. This operation sends a clear message, as officials continue to take a firm stance on illegal immigration and public safety.
