Netanyahu Pays Tribute to Charlie Kirk
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed deep admiration for Charlie Kirk, calling the political activist, who was fatally shot on Wednesday, a significant figure of “one generation.” In his remarks, Netanyahu highlighted Kirk’s commitment to their shared Christian values and his enthusiasm for experiencing the historical significance of Jesus’s footsteps in Israel.
“He truly valued the relationship between America and Israel,” Netanyahu shared on “Faulkner’s Focus” during a Thursday segment. He recalled Kirk’s willingness to engage in discussions about his beliefs, noting, “He had his truth and he stood for it. But he also welcomed dialogue.” Unfortunately, Kirk’s life was abruptly ended by violence.
The tragic incident occurred at Utah Valley University, leaving behind a wife and two small children. Netanyahu reflected on his own encounters with Kirk, recalling how his son had met him during a visit to Israel in 2019. “This loss is immense for us as people; extraordinary individuals like him should not be taken from us,” he stated.
Moreover, Netanyahu emphasized Kirk’s steadfast support for Israel. He mentioned a letter Kirk wrote earlier this year where he expressed, “One of my greatest joys as a Christian is to defend Israel and forge alliances that safeguard Jewish and Christian civilizations.” The two had communicated just days prior, with Kirk being invited to Israel—a visit that will, sadly, never happen.
Kirk, known for his devout Christianity, often spoke about faith at various campus events nationwide. His organization, Turning Point USA, even features a branch aimed at inspiring Christians to act on their beliefs.
Kirk’s death adds to a disturbing trend of politically motivated violence, recalling previous assassination attempts on public figures, including two against President Donald Trump in 2024. Netanyahu concluded with reflections on Kirk’s enduring impact, stating, “I will think of Charlie for the rest of my life, as generations carry on his legacy.”
