Kayla Nicole Remains Tight-lipped on Travis Kelce’s Engagement
Kayla Nicole, who previously dated Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, wasn’t interested in discussing his engagement to pop star Taylor Swift. When asked directly during a red carpet interview about her thoughts on the engagement, she quickly shifted the topic, expressing her excitement about being at the Champion event instead.
With a smile and a slight glance away, she said, “Ah, no, no, no, I’m so happy to be here at Champion! This is a dope party.” It seemed she wanted to steer clear of any drama, focusing instead on the positive atmosphere at the Sports Illustrated’s House of Champion Fashion Week event in New York recently.
Kayla and Travis had a somewhat off-and-on relationship from 2017 until they finally split in 2022. Since then, he has moved on with Taylor Swift, and they officially announced their engagement on Instagram back on August 26. They shared a series of photos set in a beautiful garden in Leewood, Kansas.
During her interview, when a reporter noted that many men had been inquiring about her relationship status, Kayla seemed caught off guard but played along. “Really? Anyone who is definitely asking, say yes, that’s true!” she laughed. She then elaborated on what she looks for in a partner, mentioning her appreciation for honesty and a strong family orientation.
“Yeah, I love very honest guys,” she noted. “A man with a really great character. You know, someone who enjoys being with family, is spontaneous, and has solid friendships. The list goes on.” Earlier this year, she had pointed out a shift in her dating approach to protect herself and those close to her.
In her podcast, she mentioned, “I don’t want to date another guy publicly until I’m convinced they’re my long-term character. I just want to protect what makes the most sense to me.” She added that being too open can lead to unwanted scrutiny about one’s relationships.
“And sometimes, when you are a little too open and transparent, you open yourself to the world of opinions,” she reflected. “I think people offer their take on your relationship. I just want to love without that pressure.”
