Secret Service Agent Placed on Leave After Controversial Post

The US Secret Service has put one of its agents on administrative leave and revoked their security clearance following a viral social media post regarding Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was recently assassinated.

According to sources, Anthony Pov, a current Secret Service agent, criticized Kirk, stating on Wednesday that he “spewed hatred and racism on his show.” He added, “At the end of the day, you answer God and tell God that things exist. You can avoid karma; she won’t leave.” This post circulated among the Secret Service staff, prompting concern among colleagues. One individual mentioned to Real Clear Politics that such comments from someone assigned to protect all Americans, including their political expressions, were troubling.

Secret Service Director Shaun Curran addressed the team on Thursday night, remarking that politically motivated attacks in the US are “increasing—day by day.” He emphasized the necessity for staff to focus on solutions rather than adding to the problems. Curran reminded agents that they committed to upholding “the highest standards on duty and at work,” maintaining the trust essential for the agency’s mission.

A spokesman for the Secret Service remarked, “The Secret Service in the United States does not tolerate any behavior that violates our Code of Conduct. This employee was placed on administrative leave, and an investigation has been initiated.”

Pov is currently in the second phase of his career with the agency. While the details of his assignments are not publicly available, agents often cover significant events involving high-profile officials. His social media activity includes posts critical of former President Donald Trump and his administration.

Additionally, other public employees are facing investigations and disciplinary actions after posting content related to Kirk’s murder. Reports indicate that multiple educators have been suspended or terminated for celebrating Kirk’s assassination online, with incidents occurring in states like Massachusetts, South Carolina, North Carolina, Iowa, Texas, and Ohio. A new website, Charliesmurderers.com, has begun documenting these posts, claiming to have collected over 20,000 examples of congratulatory messages.

Military personnel are also under scrutiny for social media interactions justifying violence. Secretary of the Military Pete Hegseth stated this week that such behavior would be addressed “quickly” and described it as “completely unacceptable.” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell added that “it’s unacceptable for military personnel and civilians from the Department of War to celebrate or laugh at the assassination of fellow Americans.”

Charlie Kirk was tragically shot on September 10 while engaging with a student at Utah Valley University. He was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
