Two men taken into custody for reportedly setting a bomb under a vehicle belonging to a news organization in Utah.

On Friday, two men placed a bomb under a news van in Utah and attempted to ignite it, leading to significant evacuations and a federal investigation.

Adieb Nasir, 58, and Adil Justice Ahme Nasir, 31, were taken into custody on Sunday at a residence in Magna, Utah.

Authorities allege the men concealed a burnt Cen device beneath a media vehicle parked near an occupied building. Police indicated the explosives were activated but malfunctioning.

Due to the presence of media-affiliated vehicles in such a populated area, the FBI assumed control of the investigation once it was confirmed that the malfunctioning Cen equipment was indeed real.

In less than two days, federal agents returned to Nasir’s residence to further explore the threat.

Documents indicate that law enforcement discovered additional hoax weapons, illegal drugs, and two firearms at their home. The suspects reportedly claimed these were real, prompting emergency services to evacuate neigbors while safely disposing of the devices. However, these items were ultimately identified as fake.

Adieb faces a range of serious charges, including two counts related to weapons of mass destruction and two counts of making terrorist threats. He has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and is being held without bail, according to arrest records.

As of now, Adil has not been formally charged.

The relationship between the two men remains unclear, but they were living together.
