California state Sen. Scott Wiener labels Charlie Kirk as 'a hateful bigot'

California Senator Scott Wiener expressed that Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist tragically assassinated in Utah last week, was promoting “dehumanization.” He stated, “Charlie Kirk didn’t deserve to die, but he was a divisive figure who caused significant harm by normalizing this mindset.” Wiener emphasized the importance of discussing these issues on college campuses.

In reaction, the Republican National Committee’s research account on X responded to Wiener’s posts, expressing disapproval with remarks about the so-called “forgiving left.” Dean Cain also chimed in, sharing his thoughts on the situation.

Wiener had previously acknowledged the need to condemn the act of violence while noting that Kirk’s rhetoric contributed to a “poisonous” political climate. He pointed out that “multiple truths can coexist”—condemning both political violence and acknowledging Kirk’s influence in the conservative movement.

Following Kirk’s assassination, several vigils were held at universities across the nation. Wiener described the murder as “terrifying” and advocated for increased protections regarding access to firearms. He stated that “political violence is never the answer,” and emphasized the need for a safer political climate where people aren’t living in fear of targeted violence.
