Charlie Kirk's passing inspires Oregon student to support 'closeted conservatives'

Young conservatives, like Maggie Tozaby, are feeling galvanized by the impact of Charlie Kirk’s death. Tozaby, a sophomore at the University of Oregon, expressed on “Fox & Friends” how significant Kirk was to her and many others. She mentioned that the movement towards greater openness about conservative beliefs on her campus is crucial, especially for those who are hesitant to share their views.

It seems like the “sleeping giant” of conservative activism has stirred to life following Kirk’s assassination. Enrollments for new Turning Point USA chapters have skyrocketed into the tens of thousands, which points to a burgeoning interest among youth for conservative causes. Thorsby noted that this rush reflects her determination to be more vocal about her beliefs, despite the political climate in deeply liberal Oregon.

One of the parts of Kirk’s legacy that Tozaby admires the most is his open and bold expression of faith. She feels compelled to continue that element of his vision.

In Utah, students gathered in prayer at a vigil, feeling a divine calling to honor Kirk’s Christian heritage. One mourner highlighted the inspiration they draw from Kirk’s fearless expression of faith—a sentiment echoed widely among his supporters.

Tozaby hopes to foster an environment on campus where students can freely express themselves without facing judgment or backlash. Recently, TPUSA reported over 37,000 inquiries from individuals wishing to start new campus chapters, alongside many recruitment applications, according to Andrew Kolvet from The Charlie Kirk Show. Currently, TPUSA boasts around 900 college branches and about 1,200 high school branches.
