Palermo's Pizza factory worker loses life in robotic machinery incident

A worker at a pizza factory in West Milwaukee has tragically lost his life after an accident involving a robotic machine, as confirmed by local authorities.

Robert Cheron, 45, from Elkhorn, was on duty at the Palermo facility around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday when the incident occurred.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene following reports of the accident, but unfortunately, Cheron was declared dead despite attempts to revive him.

Officials from the West Milwaukee Police Department are currently conducting an investigation into the incident, with assistance from OSHA and the Milwaukee County Examination Office.

The precise circumstances of how Cheron became entrapped in the machinery are not yet clear.

“This tragic accident that cost an employee his life is a horrifying event that we are thoroughly investigating,” stated Palermo spokesman Rebecca Singke. “We are collaborating with officials to gather the facts. Palermo is committed to supporting the families of our employees and providing counseling services to our staff during this difficult time.”

Cheron was reportedly a bakery manager at the facility. He had extensive experience in the food production industry and was respected by his colleagues for his dedication.

The Wisconsin AFL-CIO, the state’s largest labor organization, also released a statement following the incident. They emphasized the importance of teamwork among workers, employers, and government agencies to ensure safety at work, stating, “This tragic incident highlights the necessity for all parties involved to actively collaborate, ensuring everyone returns home safely after their workday.”
