Trump and Musk Spotted Together at a Memorial
President Trump and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk were seen seated together during a memorial event for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, sharing a handshake at the funeral.
Musk, 54, was initially spotted alone in the stands of State Farm Stadium, where around 78,000 attendees gathered to pay their respects to the founder of Turning Point USA, who had been killed.
Social media later highlighted moments of Trump and Musk interacting with the audience as attendees applauded around them.
During their brief encounter, Trump reached for his mask and the two exchanged a serious handshake before Musk stood and walked away. It’s not entirely clear what was said during their interaction.
This meeting comes a few months after Musk stepped down from his position as head of the Government Efficiency Bureau in late May, following public critiques of Trump’s ambitious “Big Beautiful Building” project. Musk had claimed that Tesla founders were undermining his budgetary efforts.
Amid this public dispute, Musk suggested that the president and new party leaders should challenge Trump and the GOP. In a retaliatory fashion, Trump threatened to terminate Musk’s government contracts and implied that Musk was suffering from “Trump Madness” after the departure of a former aide.
Previously, Trump had intended to sell or distribute Red Tesla models he purchased in early March to support mask initiatives.
The two had also exchanged comments on a platform known as X, which has stirred further conversation. Musk even announced plans to collaborate with one of Senator Thomas Massey’s adversaries in Congress.
The event in memory of Kirk saw a large crowd, many dressed in red, white, and blue, filling the stadium. Some attendees arrived as early as 4 a.m., while others had to park far away and walk to the service. Kirk had been shot on September 10th during an event at the University of Utah while on a tour across the United States.
